PD Workshop, Get Ready! Get Set! Go STEM!
Join STEM Learning Lab this August and get ready for the new school year by customizing your professional development! Select sessions from one of the days or come every day for in-depth and insight workshops on how STEM and Education go hand-in-hand! Below is a brief description of each session. Select the day you are interested in for more information.

Monday, August 20th: Rockin’ Robotics: Intro using LEGO WeDo and LEGO Mindstorms
Robotics. You hear about it everywhere. Are you curious about bringing coding and robots into your curriculum? Join STEM Learning Lab for a hands-on session where you’ll learn how to integrate technology into your lesson planning and how to give your students opportunities to represent their learning through building and engineering challenges.
Tuesday, August 21st: Cooking Up Coding in the Classroom
Spice up the 2018-2019 school year with a dollop of digital literacy and computational thinking through coding!
Wednesday, August 22nd: Beyond Design Thinking: Teacher as Designer
This workshop challenges attendees to step into the role of teacher as designer. Whether Design Thinking is new to you, or you’re a seasoned expert, we’ll show you how to apply these skills in new and dynamic ways to help your students become innovators.
Thursday, August 23rd AM: Where’s the Math in Maker? Building Math Competency and Confidence in Spatial Concepts
The ability to read a map. Measuring liquid for a recipe. Hanging pictures so they line up. Math is absolutely everywhere! In this thought provoking and hands-on workshop, Dr. Gina Cherkowski will present strategies on how, through maker activities, you can help students build math competency and confidence through spatial reasoning concepts.
Thursday, August 23rd PM: Computational Thinking and Notebooks: Revolutionizing Lessons with Interactive Coding and Data Analysis
In this three-hour workshop, teachers will be introduced to the Callysto platform, and will get the chance to explore modules that have been developed for existing course curricula (covering, among other subjects, history, science, and literature).
